Contributor Terms
The short version
- These terms apply when you submit an article to the Read section, whether you're a provider on Materia+ or an independent author.
- You keep ownership of your article.
- You let Materia+ publish, edit, share and promote it, along with your name, photo and bio.
- Your article must be your own, disclose any financial links, and make no cure claims.
- You can ask us to take it down at any time. We remove it from the website within 30 business days.
1.Who these terms apply to
Anyone who submits an article to the Read section.
These terms apply when you submit an article, guide or other written content (an "article") to the Read section, Materia+'s publication. They apply to providers on Materia+ and to independent authors who aren't providers. Providers on Materia+ may be given priority when we consider submissions.
2.You keep ownership
Your article stays yours.
You keep the copyright and other intellectual property rights in every original article you submit and we accept.
3.What you let us do
Publish, share and promote your article, with your name and photo.
By submitting an article, you give Materia+ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable licence to host, publish, format, translate, feature and share it on the Platform, in our newsletter and publication, and on our official social media.
You also let us use the article, together with your name, headshot, professional bio, business name and profile, in our ads, marketing campaigns, promotional materials and directory showcases.
4.Taking an article down
Ask any time. We remove it from the website within 30 business days.
You can ask us in writing at any time to remove your article from the website or publication. Once we've confirmed the request, we remove it from the website within 30 business days. Please note:
- Past posts and campaigns. We don't have to delete social media posts, printed materials or ad campaigns that used your article or likeness before your request.
- Future campaigns. Once we process your request, we stop creating new ads or promotional materials that feature the removed article.
5.Your promises
Your work, your rights, nothing unlawful.
You confirm that:
- your article and any images or media with it are your own original work
- they don't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or privacy
- they contain nothing defamatory or unlawful
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover Materia+'s losses and reasonable legal costs from any copyright or other intellectual property claim about your article.
6.Disclose financial links
Tell us about any financial connection to what you mention.
Tell us about any financial, affiliate, sponsorship or commercial relationship with products, supplement brands or services your article mentions. We may add a disclosure to any article to meet consumer protection and advertising rules (such as the US Federal Trade Commission's guidelines and Canada's Competition Bureau standards).
7.No cure claims
Focus on general health and wellness.
Don't claim that a specific herb, supplement, homeopathic remedy or wellness technique can "cure", "treat" or "prevent" a specific disease or chronic condition. Articles must focus on supporting general health, wellness and holistic practice. Articles are for general information and aren't medical advice (see the Read Section document).
8.Editing and declining
We can edit, add disclaimers, or decline any article.
Materia+ has full editorial control. We may:
- edit titles, text, formatting and layout for length, search, style and clarity
- add links to the directory, or disclaimers for readers
- decline, reject or remove any article at our discretion, without giving a reason or notice, including if we think it's unsafe, inaccurate or doesn't fit our standards
