The short version

  • We want everyone to be able to find care, book and attend visits on Materia+.
  • We're working towards the WCAG 2.1 AA standard for accessible websites.
  • Some parts of the site don't meet it yet. We list them here and are fixing them.
  • If something doesn't work for you, tell us. We'll help you another way and fix it.
  • Providers can book visits for patients who can't or prefer not to use the website.

1.Our commitment

Materia+ should work for everyone.

We want Materia+ to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or captions, and people with cognitive, hearing, vision or motor disabilities. We're working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, and we follow accessibility law where it applies to us, including Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

2.What we do

Plain language, clear design and testing with assistive technology.

  • We write in plain language and put a short summary at the top of our legal documents.
  • We aim for readable text, good colour contrast, visible focus and pages that work with a keyboard.
  • We label forms and images so screen readers can describe them.
  • Pages adjust to phone screens and to larger text settings.
  • We check new features for accessibility before we release them.

3.Known limitations

Some older parts of the site still need work.

Some parts of Materia+ don't fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA yet. [List to be completed after an accessibility review, for example: older account pages, some form error messages, and PDFs uploaded by providers.] We're working through these and will update this page as we fix them.

Video visits run on the Amazon Chime SDK. Captions are not yet available. If you need another way to communicate during a visit, such as typed chat or a sign language interpreter, tell your provider when you book.

4.Other ways to book and get help

You don't have to use the website.

  • Ask your provider: providers can book visits for you and give you a printed appointment card.
  • Caregivers: a patient can give a caregiver access to help with their account.
  • Contact us: we can help you book, read a document with you, or send it in another format, such as large print or plain text.

5.Tell us about a barrier

If something doesn't work for you, we want to know.

Email support@materiaplus.com with the page or feature, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. We'll reply within 5 business days. We'll help you get what you need straight away and add the problem to our list of fixes.

6.This statement

We'll review this statement at least once a year and whenever we make a significant change to the site.
