Exciting News Ahead: Our Platform is...
To all our valued readers. We have some important news to share...
A large part of the excitement of proving a substance, in this case a triple blind proving, is guessing what the substance is and then waiting to see how close you were.
After a month, the group of six and the two supervisors met in an online meeting due to distance and time restraints. It was revealed on June 22, 2024 and the Proving had started on the day of trituration, May 25, 2024. Here are some of the comments made by the provers as they share together their personal experiences and as a group we begin looking at the themes and commonalities. Each prover sharing and guessing just before the substance becomes known. At this point I usually do not know what the remedy is myself, but I had decided to look at which one it was just before the meeting and it was good I did as it took me at least half an hour to figure out what had happened. For a few seconds I had believed we had proven the blue jay, but when I saw that it was not one of the 3 possibilities I realized they had only really had two to choose from – I had prepared two envelopes with the great blue heron and one other remedy. The odds were stacked in the great blue heron’s favour which was eventually picked by Prover A from one of the unmarked sachet. Because at this point I knew what the remedy was, I have shared their final comments as written down by me and typed up by the second supervisor.
The information given at this point is for interest only and is not included in the final write up of the proving as provers are listening to each other and being influenced to the point where any extra information is not reliable.
To keep the proving a triple blind study – the supervisor who prepared the remedy and gave the unmarked sachets to the prover to choose from, the prover who chose it and the other provers do not know the nature of the substance. Our automatic (autonomic) brain is so much more intelligent than the neocortex – biasing the choice to make it a two to three ratio instead of a one in three in the proving of the great blue heron stresses this once again.
After writing up the proving in four parts, and sharing it on the podcast, Homeopathic Healing – How Nature Heals, I have summarized much of what was experienced and written up a short analysis on the remedy’s sphere of action, its source words as well as aspects of the proving that showed major themes and experiences that would be helpful when proven with clinical application.
Prover A – Either animal or plant. I feel it’s an insect. Symptoms came up from my childhood [healing] from fifty years ago; more content but more tired, not as stressed, my hands and related arthritis excreted things into a rash. [The rash spread throughout her body and finally needed to be antidoted.] Before I could barely move my hands, my hands are no longer swollen. The rash left and came back on my face. Rash seems to be moving. Arthritis got better, almost normal on hands. Left hand better than right hand. Ups and downs, feeling really good and really shitty. Affected the left side of body more. During the proving I felt more emotional, almost high, intoxicated. I saw a spider, smelled milk – I’m lactose intolerant but smelled milk. Saw a lot of wasps, chasing me, a big wasp. A lot of insects, getting bitten and stung a lot.
Prover B – Some sort of a plant. Tip of the plant, splinter? On the tip. Looked like a crochet book. Very emotional, past present anything and everything. Going to work I’m happy I’m content willing to help, go home and I’m beat, tired exhausted frustrated leave me alone. A lot of ex-husband, brings up not worthy, not worth it. Nothing would come back dream wise. Couldn’t document dreams even though trying. According to smart watch I was sleeping better, but still exhausted. Tiredness feels like Nothing left. I was very emotional and content [she cried while describing her symptoms]. I went home from work tired and exhausted. I slept well. A lot of the past came back; more exhausted. She made a slumping movement at this moment]. She did not share her guess of what the proving substance could be.
Prover C – While triturating, I felt quiet. [This was noted by the supervisor during the trituration.] I was tired and felt stones; I had a stiffness in jaw and neck, but noticed that got better during the 30 days. Itchiness around scalp and eyes. Heavier on right side. Rash under my right armpit, that got worse with heat and sweating. Similar to a rash I’ve had before. Finally, now starting to go away. Black bear dreams, as a kid would have black bear dreams. [She would freeze up and wake up, this time she froze and then came too and started moving. After two weeks, extremely depressed; can’t get myself out of bed; don’t want coffee (normally 2 a day and it was hard to even go through 1 cup of coffee). Miserable, negative. PMSing. Had to antidote on June 19 . Waking up every day nauseous after antidoting until today felt a bit better. Thinking about Black feathers, black birds, like a crow, black stickers on the windows in the clinic bathroom. Bananas as a pattern? Been eating bananas quite frequently.
Prover D – During the trituration, thought I was seeing black feathers, and felt high. First night I had a dream, elephant chasing a black bird or yellow bird. Two other weird dreams; in the first I was getting nose reconstruction surgery, they took a piece of the nose off, while in the second dream I went to a cottage with random people, a lady happened to be a homeopath, I was nine months pregnant and ready to pop, asked homeopath to come to my birth. Homeopath said there were two thousand remedies for hemorrhaging during birth, and they would inject it into her spine like an epidural. In the beginning left-sided headache, moved around, behind ear. Got sick, had a sinus cold, lost taste. Have a rash on right side of my face, from before trial, and now it’s moving a little to the left side. Second half, big days of depression, by mid-day was tired and exhausted. PMS symptoms were way worse. No energy for son, feels like relationship is affected negatively with son. One of my feet at the bottom of my feet after 3am, been itchy and got worse throughout the proving (right foot and then started going to the left, used word MIGRATING instead of moving. Emotional stuff.
Prover E - I saw a lot of marsupials [a group of mammals] – raccoons, opossums, skunks I think it is a marsupial. Rash on my belly, the skin looked like an island, like a peninsula, a thousand little bumps on my skin, it was in a line. A new rash on my chin I have seven bug bites, my shin looks buggy. I had severe season allergies in my sinuses - a problem for 2 to 3 weeks and then I took Reactin [in the last week of the proving]. [This ended his contribution in his journal as a new medication would antidote the proving remedy with its own symptomology.] I was more angry, I was argumentative and aggressive, had to point out people’s wrongdoings. I had dreams of a truck, driver killed by whiplash, falling into the sea, majestic whales, and a dog that was hit by a car, got worse and was turning into a puppy at the same time. Had a red dot on his eye—like a hemorrhage. Another dream, I was traveling on an Alaskan highway, pulled over and saw children’s toys. Also, I dreamed of an accident where the driver behind got killed by whiplash. Colour of the car was black.
Prover F – I felt tired and had a left sided headache during the trituration; sharp pain in the ear. I was emotional and crying when I got home.. I thought it was an animal remedy, maybe a raccoon like prover E, didn’t have a lot of energy. Felt a weird dry spot on left foot, like a very dry spot. Rough. Drowzy. Felt different kind of tiredness in my body. Didn’t feel like I had a lot of energy. I had a dream I was working in a store, and a kid came up to me and I showed him cookies. Took him to an isle and put money all over the floor. I asked him why, and he said he wanted to help people and then the dream ended.
The journals were slowly given to me. It took quite a length of time to get the 5 journals. It took over 3 months to finally get all the journals, minus one that was lost.

In order to understand the great blue heron it is a good idea to look at the other provings done on this remedy. There are two excellent write-ups on this bird and the general themes for both animals and birds are quite clear here. What I find the most impressive in this proving are the source words and the two interesting expressions of ‘strings’ on a bird’s ankle and the ‘island shaped and peninsula’ rash. There is a complete write-up on this that can be accessed by emailing me at hownatureheals@gmail.com or listening to the fourth part of the McQuaby Provings – Trituration Proving of Spring 2024, Part 4 released as narrative number 132 on the podcast, Homeopathic Narratives – How Nature Heals.
The Substance
Feathers, [Prover E] [characteristic of substance]
Feather/Bird [Prover D]
Black feather [Prover C]
Noticed blackbird stickers on the window in bathroom [Prover C]
Red dot was on his eye (the dog that got hit by a car) [Prover E] [not sure]
Beat the snot out of someone with glass [Prover E] [absurd]
Grey [Prover B]
Prickly, picky[Prover A]
Migrates: a left sided headache lately …throbbing it migrates to the right side…ends up back on the left side, . Now behind and above the ear. It stops traveling in a linear form, goes like a straight arch over my head, and doesn't linger over the right side. It is almost as if my headache migrates. [Prover D]
Dream had a front view, going left to right they would be flat, a front view, no bird’s eye view, no elevation, very unusual dream [Prover D]
A string on a bird’s ankle [Prover D]
Not solid blue [Prover B]
An island, peninsula shaped rash [Prover E]
diagonally behind the bird [Prover D]
Provers Pointing to the Family of the Substance – A Bird
Crow [Prover E, C]
Red Robin [Prover E]
Red Cardinal [Prover E]
Black or canary type yellow bird [Prover D]
Curative symptoms
Prover F- started up pole dancing again after 5 years because a friend asked
Prover C- her dream of freezing after seeing a black bear had a curative ending as she ‘unfroze’ and the dream ended positively
Prover B – she was happy and calm in her sleep instead of having a worried look [her husband said]
Prover A – joint pain in her fingers has been given cortisone shots for rheumatoid arthritis for years, the rash came out and the hands became loose and less stiff
When including information as proving symptoms we are looking for the specific sensitivity of the substance and as a result we use both the things provers experience and those things they emphatically deny seeing: ‘didn’t see’. When you negate an experience you are moving up the centesimal scale of denial: 30C being no denial, 200C negating it and 1M having never experienced it. This is hard with the proving information, so for specific detailed repertory rubrics I used what was observed, but for general themes and topics of interest that came up during the proving I did add those experiences that were observed and then also denied. A prover who expresses a point and then negates it is still reliable, but at a different level of posology.
The two feathers used in this proving were a light grey blue colour. I collected the feathers one very windy day after the great blue heron had moved on from the reedbeds where it had stood looking for minnows and suddenly catching one and then going back to the silent waiting behaviour. This calmness of the heron followed by motion and movement I believe is the essence of this remedy as shown through the observations and experiences of the provers of this proving. There is always a great blue heron that comes to our shores every summer, I wonder if it is the same one, or an offspring. On the day I started writing up the second part of the proving, discussing the provers’ symptoms in their own words, a great blue heron walked across our shore on McQuaby Lake, moving on from its minnows.
