Learn how to get paid by patients directly on Materia+

With Materia+, providers can receive payments directly from their patients. Materia+ features payment integrations with Square.

Before enabling direct payments, providers must have an active Square account. To start receiving payments, navigate to the Payments section and link your Square account. You will receive an email with further instructions—follow these to finalize the linking process. Once completed, you will be able to accept direct payments.

How to connect my Square account?

To connect your Square account you will need to find 3 credentials that can be found in your Square account. To obtain the 3 credentials follow these instructions:

1. Go to Developer Dashboard and login with your Square account.

2. Go to Developer Console and in the Applications tab, create a new application. You can call it "Materia+"

3. Open the application and go to the Credentials page.

4. In the Credentials page, switch from Sandbox to Production Mode.

5. Copy your Application ID and Access token.

6. Go to the Locations tab and copy your Location ID.

7. Paste all three values to Materia+ and click "Connect my Square Account"

How does receiving direct payment work?

For security purposes, patients must provide their card details every time they choose to pay a provider. They can do so via their Patient Dashboard.
