For many providers, Materia+ isn’t their first EHR or practice management system. That’s why we’ve made it simple to bring your existing patients into Materia+ and keep your practice running smoothly. The goal is to ensure every patient is connected to your client list so you can care for them using our digital tools—whether that’s booking appointments on their behalf or maintaining their health records and notes.
The easiest and most efficient way for patients to join your practice on Materia+ is through a standard sign‑up. Creating an account is quick and straightforward. Once a patient has a Materia+ account, they can connect with you simply by booking one of your services. As soon as they book, they automatically appear in your client list on the Clients page within your Dashboard, and become available for all back‑end functions.
If you prefer to onboard certain patients yourself—or if they need help getting started—you can create a custom patient while manually booking an appointment for them. Learn more about creating a custom patient here.

If a patient chooses not to create a Materia+ account, you can still manage their appointments manually. While these patients won’t have access to Materia+ features, they will continue to receive email appointment reminders.
